Default guys with 20+" rims

what gears do you guys run with your big rims? if you swapped from high gears to a lower gear for your heavy rims did it help mileage due to turning them easier? trying to decide to stay 3.73's or 4.10's. i want to do a axle swap but it seems the 14bolt i want is only easily available in 3.42's so either way i have to do a gear swap.

If you are doing a gear swap regardless, I would go 4.10. I've found that on a heavy truck the lower gear actually gets a little better city than the high gear, hwy mileage does suffer a little if you drive fast.

Im running 285/40/22 with 3.73's. It does fine, but I know it would be a lot better with 4.10's. It's a cammed 5.3 with 3600 stall, my next purchase will be 4.10's for sure.

I have 3.73's now. They've been okay with 20's and with 22's. I think it would be better with 4.10. I'd swap them out, but my truck is 4x4, so it's just too expensive for me right now.

yeah that one reason that makes it hard to decide. being awd and all. but right now i don't have the front end installed so it won't matter till i put it in. plus the front end gears and diff ntb replaced cause they are shot. its real temping. i think the 60ft would be better. not sure how much better though. has anybody ever compared 60ft's from 3.73's and 4.10's. i have a 3200 torque converter.

how bad is your mileage. i know power and mileage don't go hand in hand but i don't want 10mpg either lol.

I've been running 265/60/17"s with my 4.30"s and am getting 17mpg with my driving habits.
That's the same as i was getting with 4.11"s and 275/45/20.
Waiting to get my EFI Live back from dozerdan so I can put my 20"s back on and see where I sit with those.

That mileage is mainly highway but most of the time i'm going 80-100mph so I'm pretty sure I can do better on mileage if I'd take it easy. If you mainly drive city then you'll pick up city mileage cuz it's easier to get rolling

Dan is running 265/60/17s right now I believe on his RCSB and getting 18-20 with his 4.56 last I heard.

Tyler hasn't had to put gas in his in months
