Exclamation Greasing Slip Yoke...

What kind of grease do you guys use to grease the slip yoke on the driveshaft? Also, how liberally do you apply it? My truck is clunking worse now and I want to see if greasing it will quieten it down. Thanks in advance!

I used BelRay waterproof wheel bearing grease because I had lots around for my dirtbike. It seemed to work well in my 01 Tahoe. It even matched the Autotrac II fluid in color

yes...use any kinda of waterproof grease...even marine grease. You can get it at wal-mart or anywhere...wheel bearing grease...balljoint grease...even the std red grease.

Shove as much as you can on it, and your clunk will disappear.

zep makes some really good grease if ya want to spend a little more, excellent in high heat, high load bearing, 100% water proof and will not fling off. its like greenish in color and i highly recommend it. should work perfect for you.

you guys are talking about the outside of the slip yolk that you grease up, or the inside splines that mates to the output shaft on the trans?

I haven't greased mine yet, but I can only assume that you grease the inside splines that mate to the output shaft.
