Kind of obvious but are you certain it is full of fluid? Did you fill the converter prior to installation?

Assuming the converter is bolted to the flexplate, start the truck & let it run for several seconds. Check the fluid level while it's running to see where the fluid level lies. If it looks overfilled, then evaluate whether or not you put too much fluid in. If you're certain that the fluid level is to spec, then what are the odds that the filter is not where it should be? If that's not a suspect, then I'd take another look at the pump.

However, I have to ask whether or not the valve body was removed. Check the gear linkages external to the trans as well as internal. That has slipped my mind once.

you can add about 3 qt. more than normal and see what it does that will tell you what is going on if it works either the filter has a crack are it is not in place

Well alltough you did replace or repair the pump the first thing to do after you are sure its full of fluid, Remove one cooler line and start and see what comes out. Did you remove the presure regulator valve when repairing or replacing the pump?

i would throw it up on jackstands and go through all the gears, keeping an eye on the fluid level.

and yes we dropped the pan to remove the presure reg. valve before we removed the pump to repair it.

Ok I woul do as blue says but I would also check the lines for flow. Its really easy to miss the groove on the PR valve snap ring , I know I have done it. It will result in a no movment situation also like a broken pump so definaltey worth looking at , In fact I would check flow first because runing with no flow could damage the converter if you have flow proceed with the test on stands If not pull pan and see if PR VALVE is laying in there

the converter was filled up before it was put in, and i added about 3 quarts to the tranny before starting. i can feel it click when i put it in gear, so i dont think the linkages are suspect. i remember when i was removing the tranny, there was two hardlines up top that no fluid came out or anything when i took them off. is there only fluid going through those when everything is on? i figured some fluid would of came out or something from the cooler? could it be a pinched line? ill be rechecking all that stuff again tomorrow. transmissions suck!!

Yeah, there definitely should have been fluid in your cooler lines. Sounds like you're going back in.
