Was the unit you bought brand new or used? I don't see how it could've been machined to only fit the 8.5" rear ends, when that part number is for the 8.625" axles.

Are you saying that from now on there will be a new part number for the 99+ axles, or that your truetrac was missboxed or altered prior to you getting it?

it was brand new scott, he bought it from that blownfogger dude, that midnightrider had trouble with, but got resolved, the tru trac was listed as to fit his setup, i personally think blownfogger needs to refund him or send him the receipt or something since he was told it would work with his application and it doesnt.

The part number is right, so the only thing I could come up with was that the wrong differential was put in the box. Whether that was done by Eaton on accident or by a previous owner of that part that ordered the wrong one is going to be a good question.

Correct. Someone has machined it to fit only in pre 98 10 bolts and to fit only stock bearings. I have sent blownfogger a pm about this. Just waiting for a reply.

It is the correct part number and correct diff.......but someone has personally machined it down to 1.625 to fit PRE-98 10 bolts using FACTORY carrier bearings......all they had to do was get the correct bearing as listed by eaton but instead they fucked the whole thing up just to use a stock bearing. I was told it was brand new but EATON tech said they never came like this and it has 100% sure been altered.
