Got my X-mas Gift - $ for a Lowering Kit. Need Advice & wisdom.

Both. Bottoming out the suspension but, also scrapping the bottom of the spring pocket on launches, regular driving, etc...
It may be misinformation or user error but, from a few people with DJM's Lower control arms they have reported the spring pocket scrapping in certain aspects of driving.
I really do like the idea of the DJM kit. Any other aspects of the kit you like?

I drive my truck 40miles everyday, i beat on it alot, and i have not had an issue...

Well i have zero issues.... Previously i had 2in drop springs only... I used to drag portions of the undercarriage going over certain types of inclines... With the 2in drop lower control arms that problem went completely away. In 1.5 years i have never dragged the undercarriage...

I think you just made my mind up for me bud. Thank you. Once I get the new tires on I'll measure to see how low I want to go in the front whether it be 2" or 3" and I'll order the DJM kit. Personally do you believe it would be better to use the Calmax shocks that come with the kit or upgrade to a set of QA1's?
As far as shocks. Honestly i am running bilstein HD stock length shocks. i really like them.

If you go with the 2" or the 3" i would go ahead and order DJMs upper drop control arms so the alignment goes easier.... My guy had difficultly aligning my truck with the 2" lowers and stock upper...

Loving the truck man. Just saw the photos in the projects thread. Those are the same tires I'm going to be using (275/60R17's) so mine should sit just about like yours. I bought mine brand new in 2006 with 8 miles on the odometer. Same color too. Haha Mean looking truck yet classy.

Is the alignment off that much with the stock uppers? Do the uppers make the alignment that much easier? I'll look into the uppers. If I do it I just want to do it once. Had a halfway idea of getting everything powder coated black to match everything else then installing everything.

The alignment is not off, and i have don't have any odd tire wear. My buddy just had to max out all the adjustment... He said he would have liked a little bit more adjustment but he got it good enough....

On the same note, if money is no problem and you want to stay static I would go with a cilover conversion up front and matching shocks in the rear. Here's a link to a thread on just that:

I have a few different setups and will tell you my experience. Granted this is on a 95, so take it for what it's worth.
My first setup was 2" bell tech drop spindles with 1 3/8" sway bar up front and 4" drop leaves with a 1" sway bar in the rear. I have ran the same KYB MonoMax shocks and sway bars for all of these setups. This rode ok up front but like **** in the rear. The Belltech spindles pushed my wheels out about 3/8". I think the guy who sold me the leaves told me they were for my truck just because they fit, but really they were for an NBS.
Second Belltech 2" drop spindles in front plus DJM 2" drop springs and a DJM 6" flip kit in the rear. This rode better out back, but still rough. And I was on the bump stops up front so it was harsh. I think the MonoMax shocks are a little too stiff. I ended up cutting the bumpstops and then was hitting the fender with the tire all the time. That got really annoying.
Third setup was DJM upper arms, DJM 4" lower control arms (2" drop but correct geometry for 4") and 2" springs for a total of 4" with stock spindles. The idea was that I could get my wheels back to where they were supposed to be (since they were pushed out by the Belltech spundles), but turns out the DJM arms pull the wheel in to correct for the amount they are pushed out by simply lowering the truck with springs. So now they rubbed on the inside and my wheels hit the arms so I lost a lot of turning radius. Ride was ok though. I think the issue was that I was running 9.5" wide 22's up front.
My plan now is to run a 2/4 drop for now on 15" wheels then convert the front to a coil over setup once I know what exact ride height and wheel setup I want. The rear will likely end up on bags for towing and such.

Do you get any bump-steer with the DJM lower control arms?
