Got the built trans/stall in.
I got the built trans and PI 2800 stall in, havent done a full WO pull yet as I want to heat cycle everything a couple times. The stall is looser then I expected. The trans shifts fast and firm under part throttle and under hard accel it shifts very FAST. I was amazed how pronounced the lock up is with this torque converter, its like another gear. I did a couple hard starts maybe 75% throttle and it flashed to 2400-2500 so we will see where it flashes to at full throttle. The acceleration feels great, it pulls very hard. I am trying to get used to the stall, this is the first auto I have driven with a stall in it. Mainly in overdrive is what I am not used to, it just has a different sound to it now. At first I thought the trans was slipping till I realized its just the torque converter.

you think the 2800 is a bit loose? I was afraid of getting anything big and settled with a 3400 myself now wish i would've gone larger. Mine feels fairly tight for such a high stall speed.

U also did 2 mods @ once( 1 being the tranny, 2 being the PI). Some do 1 or the other. Altho, both @ the same time is just plain easier. Darn fat cats, rollin in dough. Glad your happy Pat.

I have had the converter since end of summer, but I have been holding off till i did the trans. I am really curious what the Converter will do for my '60 times, it sure does pull a hell of a lot harder from a dead stop and I havent even went 100% throttle yet. It accels better from a roll even at part throttle, it just feels different due to the stall. If I go by engine sound I dont think I am really accelerating very fast from a roll but when I look at the speedo I realize how fast I am going...
I sure does squat the *** end allot more from a stop.

Some years ago, I had a beater 77 Caprice 4dr. w/ POS 200M tranny. It puked out in the hood on me. I replaced it w/ a built TH350 that was done @ home w/ help. I threw most of the good parts at it, other than the real $$ stuff. Along w/ a really good shift kit & upgraded stall. Done as a towing/ heavy duty build as instad of a performance build. I did the whole deal as an upgrade to a weak unit. That was when I learned the benefit of trans mods in general. Since I was young at the time, I only thought fun comes from motor work. That kinda started the bug & was my 1st conversion of any kind, to upgrade a weak unit or put what the factory should of started w/ in the 1st place.
