Aight my dust cover for my rotor has been bent or somthing and it is making an awful sound! So if I take the cover completly off will it affect the brakes or do i need to just cut it?
Our brakes self adjust right?

please help i got the front end tore down and trying to keep from doing this twice

It's just thin sheetmetal, why don't you just straighten it out? Jack it up, remove the wheel, bend it back away from the rotor, and you're done. Easy!

 

 

Yea, you don't want to remove that shield completely, it helps to keep grime, debris, moisture, etc. off of your brake assemblies. I actually have to replace both of my rear backing plates as they have completely rusted and actually rusted through in some spots. They're so expanded that they rub against the rear rotors and make annoying rotational scraping sounds.

 

well i looked at it today while I had it apart i cleaned everything up...I think the squeak im getting in from rotors or pads... Im getting married next weekend so after we get back i gotta do a brake job on my truck and change the oil too!
