Gmc sierra blown rear help!
#21
Some people that rag on the 10B from GM may not know that the truck 10B is a 8.6" ring gear, while the car 10B is a 7.6" ring gear. The car 10B is MUCH weaker. My 99 Z28 had 4:10 gears in it, and tune-only with drag radials was killing it...
The truck's 8.6" 10B is much stronger, it's real weak link is the factory G80 locking diff. You hear about G80 (grenade 80) breakage all the time. Set up properly, with a nice differential, like Eaton Posi, or Detroit Tru Trac, and a girdle, and they seem to hold up pretty well.

Alright guys its been over a month but its finally fixed. I put in a trutrac, 3.73s tht i got from rons. But when i took it for a test drive the tranny was acting all weird such as not shifting out of first. so i had the trans redone because it was still under warranty but for some reason it is hesitating when shifting from 2-3 gear and almost slipping a bit. when i asked the guy who did the work he said it is doing this because the computer is causing some sort of problem and not the new trans? Im not sure what to do about that because the computer and trans were both good before the new rear so im thinking about having it tuned by black bear to get any bugs out of the system. oh and there arent any codes showing up either.
