GM Supermatic Trans
#1
In the latest issue of the GM Parts Performance catalog there is a new Trans available. Not sure of the cost but they do give a 12 month warranty. The 4L60E/65E were only rated to 380 ft-lb of torque and the new one is suppose to be considerably higher.
If the price is reasonable (sic), this could be a good replacement for someone who wants to drag race and not worry about rebuilds.

I figure if it's GM, it's at least $2500, maybe $3k. I couldn't read that P/N either, only made out 5 or 6 numbers. Noticed they said u need TCU P/N as well.
Nice to know their realizing we need a step up. I thought the 60E was 360Tq. rating, but I've been wrong before.
Could be rated higher on the 65E tho.

I believe its grossly underrated at 440 ft lbs. I say grossly because they are severely handicapped by the insanely soft stock shifts. They put the 80e behind the 8.1 in the Avalanches and Suburbans and the duramax in the G vans (actually a 4L85E).

I don't think 440 is under rated to much i was pushing 500 through my 1500HD with a 80e and it didn't last very long.
I always thought that the 8.1's had the allison behind them cause i know for sure my 02 2500HD truck did

Well I think the 2500 Suburbans and Avalanches have a different chassis then a 2500 truck does. I know the half ton chassis are different and maybe that got carried over to the 2500 SUVs so the 80E was an easier option to make it all work.

the 4l80e is rated at 440 lb ft in a 8000lb vehicle! Consider that they can be swapped into a 4500 lb truck and you'll see it's consistent with people's findings that they hold 600+ HP in stock form.
