Didn't get a chance to really keep the thread updated but I finally got everything installed and driving. In the break-in period now so I'll be putting some miles on it before beating on the posi and gears. Install went pretty smooth except for a few hiccups. First hiccup was right at the beginning. I was taking the passenger rear tire off when one of the lug nuts seized up on the lug... Had to just put some *** on a breaker bar and snap the lug nut off. From there I could hammer the lug off the axle enough for the tire to slide off. Could have been a lot worse. So I had to order some new lugs, and lug nuts. Second hiccup was once I got the new pinion installed. I always use a solid spacer instead of the crush sleeve. When I installed the pinion, preload was WAY too tight and I didn't have any shims for it. Had to reorder a solid spacer kit to get new shims.

Below are some pictures of what I took during the process. Ended up setting backlash at .006" (Revolution calls for .004"-.007") and the gears seem to be silent. Started the pinion shim at .037" and had to add .005" to it for final assembly.

My 1/2" air impact wouldn't even touch the pinion nut when I was taking the rear end apart so I went and bought this. 1/2" detent Detwalt 5ah Impact. Best tool I have in the garage by far. Ugged one time before the pinion nut came flying off. Really nice imact!

Here is the first pattern I got with the backlash at .006" and the pinion bearing shim at .037". Decided to add .005" (0.042" total) to the pinion shim to bring the pinion closer to the ring gear. That should drop the drive pattern down into the root a bit and bring coast more toward the center.

And here is the beauty of working on **** in your neighborhood with an HOA in Vegas. Got the tow notice for a "wrecked vehicle" with "flat tires"... Haha okay.. So i got it back together real quick and driving now. Can't wait to get some burnout in and see how this posi does.

Nice truck and I have the same Dewalt. Its ******* amazing.

I'm also the HOA VP in our neighborhood. I'd have tagged your truck too. We would get so many complaints and are bound to the HOA rules.

We serve beer at our meetings and generally make sure the neighborhood has nice plants and no houses are falling apart. Ain't many places to live round my parts without an HOA. If you cant beat em, join em and make them sane.

I just live in the trees, with a house thats falling apart but at least no one is putting stickers on my "wrecked" truck.

I agree with you, to a point. But I am still not an HOA fan. If I wanna build a garage, shed, porch, driveway, cut a tree down, let the grass die, etc; its my land, let me do it

I hear ya. I live in a townhouse so there isn't any room for building things and no room to deal with so many neighbors who would choose to have a pink front door. DC area man.

I have my very large 2 car garage with just enough room to play with my truck. Some day I'll get some land.

Sorry for taking this thread off topic!

I wish I could see your final pattern. I probably wouldn't have changed it from what you show in the picture.

Any updates on the new parts? I'm considering the powertrax grip pro vs the truetrac.
