#1
ok first of all i have 2003 5.3L SCSB...the bolt on stage done....know dont know much about gears but i've been researching and my stock gears are 3.23 right? correct me if iam wrong. Well i want 3.73 gears combined with a G80...can i combine both? wouuld it be a good next step, posi&gears top it off with tune, what should i expect with this ^^^upgrade...thanks in advance..oh yeah and if anybody has a g80 and geaes 4sale i got money in hand....

the G80 is not the best choice for a performance truck...they are better than an open diff in a stock truck but if I was going to go through the labor of swapping gears I'd go with a good LSD like the TruTrac...
3.73's are a good all around ratio...depending on your tire diameter. What size tires will you be running? A tune is a great mod, of course and will correct your speedo/tach for the new gears.

thats what i also read about the g80 that it doest last, i was thinking of an LSD just need some more input from someone else....and my tire size is 275/45R40 i think they stand 30' in. tall would the 3.73 do it justice? or is their a better gear ratio for me?

get plenty of input before making a decision
Yeah, a 30" diameter tire and 3.73's will work great. 4.10's if you don't drive freeway a lot and want more down low but I run the same with 30.5" tires

I have the eaton posi and 3.73's with a 27" tire, I used to have the 3.23's. I like the posi, but if I were to do it again, I'd go with the tru trac. With my 27" tire and 3.73's, it would be like a 30" tire and 4.10's; I turn about 2300 rpm at 70 mph. Personally, since most of my driving is around 55 mph or less, and a lot of stop and go, I'd be ok with a 4.10. Like trever said, if you do a lot of highway driving, the 3.73s would be better for you. I live in rural Fresno county, and the limit is 55, and the CHP loves to enforce that limit, so thats what I usually drive

I have 3.73's in my truck with a 275/45R20 (not 40" wheel). For racing I'd rather have a 4.10 and for highway I'd like a 3.42. The 3.73 works out ok for me with a well traveled and raced truck.
BTW 2100@70mph.
