Actually, there is nothing wrong with the G80....when used for it's intended purpose. The G80 is not a performance LSD (posi). They are designed to be a low speed traction aid in uneven terrain. When one tire spins in a small hole, for example, the G80 will engage so power is distributed evenly to both tires. Alot of people mistaken it as a "performance" LSD and think burnouts won't harm it. Defintely not good for it. If you want a performance LSD, get a Detroit TruTrac or an Eaton LSD.

I always had an open rear diff. Had gears put in and then one day checked my rpo codes in the glovebox bc I was feeling froggy. Found g80 in the list. The thing never worked. 1 tire fryer all day before. g80 is included in the z71 package right?

my 99 Z71 had an open differential.

i put in an Eaton Posi. the best mod i ever did.

the earlier years (Z71) didn't come standard with a G80. i think.
