G5X2 Cam In Tahoe -- What Stall Converter?
#1
So, I just got a G5X2 cam for my 5.3 Tahoe. Specs are 232/240 duration, 595/608 lift, on 114 LSA. Has the 4l60e trans with the 3.73 rear end. Its got 20s with 305s on it, and before it goes in, I need a new tq converter. My question is, how big should I go? I plan on doing absolutely NO towing whatsoever, and this is a performance oriented truck that is NOT daily driven. I was thinking like a 3000 vigilante or Yank, but Vigilante told me that the biggest I need to go was a 2400 stall, while Yank told me I could go all the way up to a 3600 stall. What are your guys' opinions? And yes, I most definately will take a vid of the cam once its in! Thanks.

thats a big *** cam.. why so big in a 5.3? you dont need all that cam to make good power... you'll most likely lose tons of bottom end and in a heavy *** vehicle like yours I'd run like a 3800rpm stall or maybe even bigger LOL... thats more cam than I'd ever even consider putting in a stock displacement 5.3..

I'd bet larger than that. I know a few guys running 3500 stalls with cams half that size. 3800-4000
Oh, and I hope you're getting a built trans cause say goodbye to the stocker.
