Front hub bearing issues?
#1
Has anyone had their front hub bearings go out? It would appear there is a good bit of play in my front driver side wheel/tire. The tire guys claim it's the hub bearing which looked like it made sense. Also had a tiny bit of rotor damage on the back side. I haven't done this bit of work before. Any tips for where to get the right parts or must do's to fix it properly.

Bearing are very common on the NBS and NNBS trucks.
Go with a quality part, moog, delco or SKF are good brands to pick from, timkens are okay aswell.
They can be pricey though, figure you are going to spend 150-200ish or so for a nice quality bearing with a 2-3 year warranty. There are tons of youtube video's on how to change them, I've done so many that it's a 15 min job with air tools when everything comes out easy. But I'd say an hour or two if you've never done one before and you only have hand tools.

On rockauto they have options for just the bearing or for the complete assembly. The bearings are around $30, but the complete assembly is around $100 like you were saying. Can I just swap the bearing or is it all or nothing?

Sometimes the shell where the bearing goes or the drive hub itself can be damaged.
You also Need a Press to press them apart and put them back together. I recommend a 20 ton as it always seems to struggle with anything less.

I guess I am better off going with the complete assembly. Dang they have stuff going for $50, and the 4wd brand name stuff runs about $75. The rwd is $200 for the brand name stuff.

Stay away from the cheaper hubs. I put a $100 hub in mine and 1 year later I ended up replacing it again, this time I spent ~$175 on the hub and it is lasting longer so far. Definitely better hub, quieter, too.
