Default Forward clutch clearance 4l70e

How do I measure this. Right now there is 0 clearance but if I push down on the plate I can get about 0.040". Without the snap ring , the plate is about 0.015" above the snap ring groove.

I installed the Transgo clutch springs and the Sonnax input drum reinforcing ring and piston. I had to buy another input drum so it not the original. I also measured the new frictions and steels and the forward clutch pack is about 0.030" thicker.

I assume I need a thinner plate to get the clearance? The thinnest one will be 0.046" thinner which should give me 0.031" clearance.

Almost sounds like something isnt seated properly, but iirc you should have .040-.060 clearance on forward clutch, if your .015 over the retaining ring groove theres defintiely an issue....
