Default Fluid for 14 Bolt

How much and what all types of fluid do I need to fill my 9.5" 14 bolt? Also, does Royal Purple or some other lubricant manufacter make anything that would be better for the life and functionability of my unit?

If your unit is the G80 (I believe you said it was in another post) you will need to use synthetic oil. I would recommend Mobil1 80-90.

No, I'm actually swapping out my rearend today for the 6-lug 9.5" 14 bolt 3.73 that I bought Tuesday. I'll post pictures. But I was wondering what type of fluid I should use for it, since it has no fluid in it.

I'm taking it you have the exact rear end as me. Mine came out of a 2WD 2005 SS Silverado that had 473 miles on it.

What I'm saying is if your new 14bolt has the G80 unit use synthetic. If it has the G86 (LSD) use dino.

Royal Purple Max Gear 75w90 or 75w140 for severe service for either G80/ 86. Max Gear has the additive in it for LSDs... What did you give for the 9.5" if you don't mind me asking...

It was listed for $1500 plus tax and I got it out the door for $1605. I ended up going with Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W90 and the OEM recommended limited slip additive. I'll probably end up ordering some Royal Purple Max Gear for it soon.
