Default FLT lvl5 question

Ive had my Lvl5 trans in the truck throughout the summer. I just put a new transcooler in the truck. I used some of the soft good year transmission cooler lines. How much pressure actually goes through the lines? Would I have been better off using fuel line since it is stiffer?

Also, the truck is now having issues shifting during a WOT run. When I checked the fluid its about half an inch above the marker on the dip stick. I assume this would cause my problem? It was shifting fine before I added the fluid.

Should see 100-120psi on converter lockup....if I remember right.

As far as the shifting problem, I wouldn't think a little extra fluid would do that but you never know, I'd call FLT and talk it over with them. They're always there to help whenever I have issues.

Over filling a trans is almost as bad as under filling it, although yours is not that much over. With your lvl 5 trans, your pressure is probably in the range or 200-240 depending on what they like to set them at. Personally I set my at around 235psi. I would make sure you don't have a kinked hose or a clogged cooler starving the trans of fluid.

Nope, no kinked hose, already checked that. Im gonna drain some fluid out of it after work and see if that helps.

What do you suggest using rather than high pressure fuel line?

high rated psi hydrolic hose should be fine. If you have an itch to change It, use braided type AN line if you want.

Over 200psi??

I could have sworn Vince told me when I was setting up my trans cooler hoses that it wasn't over 120psi or so.

I used push lock hose and fitting for all the tranny lines on my dads 72 Chevy 4x4 I put the 5.3 and 4l60e in. It's rated t 250 psi.
