I'm a big fan of Chuck's as well. Why don't you give him a call and discuss your plans with him. If he doesn't think he can build a 65 that won't break, he won't suggest it. I think it's obvious an 80 is better for big power but he can build a killer 65 as TurboBerserker will attest.

He told me his Level 5 65e with all the goodies would be plenty, for my set-up. FLT 65e is going to be my next trans. I love a Level 5 80e I just dont have 5K for the swap and everything.

A local guy built my trans. It was behind my sprayed 5.3 for a year or so. It lived a very hard life unlike most of ya'lls transmissions that just have to deal with WOT on the street this trans was beat to hell off road and I towed an 8K boat everyweekend this past summer with it up and down hills/mountains all with a 3K stall but the trans never got over 210*s with my large trans cooler. Honestly what I think killed it was that when I first filled up the trans after the motor swap apparently it wasnt filled all the way up. I took it for a test drive and after abotu a 15 mile drive I got on it a bit and it slipped BAD and I let off immediately. Got back to the house and filled the trans up all the way correctly and it was fine. I was driving back from AL to Texas and a guy pissed me off and I went out around him and floored it and it slipped again on the 2-3 shift with about 2500#s of extra **** in my truck. Wasnt a smart idea but the guy pissed me off and Im not a very patient person.

On the tuning thing I live about an hour and a half from the best tuner in the US IMO Allen Nelson and it just so happens the track I will be going to is 30 min from his place and he goes out there every friday night so Ill get him to tune it at the track when I decide to pill it up too. I am getting HPT eventually their new policy change really pisses me off so I dont know what Im going to do. Im limited to HPT due to the fact that Allen uses it.

JAG which is in San Antonio where Allen also happens to be will give me a 6month warranty too. I can also work out a deal for the install which is a big thing since Im lazy and tired of working on my truck. I ahve only heard of one bad thing about him and was contacted by him and it was totally explained what had happened in the situation. I believe Chuck could build me a nice trans too. I am going to call both builders on Monday and go from there as to what I want to do. I have pretty much decided to go with the 80e so I dont have to worry about it blowing again. I tow with my truck some but dont have to but would like to have the option if need be so it looks like the 80e will be the way to go.

get the 4l80e....no 4l65 will hold up to 1000 hp in a heavy *** truck. you are going to need the billet input shaft as well. Next thing is to resource a good converter to hold all that. FLP lvl 5 80e oughta do it for you.

Im going with a Fuddle converter it seems to be realy strong and John has a no BS return policy if I break it. I talked to JAG performance today and I will be going with a trans built by him.

On the HPT thing you can only get one license to tune say all the 01 truck models and then two vin specif trucks licenses or whatever where as you used to be able to get the license to tune all silverado/sierras for two year models now it will cost 200 extra to be able to do the same thing. Its a rip off IMO. It benefits some who just want to tune their 2/3/4 vehicles but I want to be bale to tune frineds trucks and whatever once I lern how to tune well.
