For future reference, there are two things considered to be "beating a dead horse":

1. Defending and/or promoting the strength and reliability of the 10-bolt rear.

2. Defending and/or promoting the strength and reliability of the 4L60/65/70-E.

Why bother...

I have to say James, these GM trannys are a lot stronger and reliable than those out of a Ford or Dodge 1/2 ton truck.
A stock GM tranny wasn't designed for an added 100+ HP/TQ that we place through them from our modifications. The tranny is fine, you just need to upgrade it as we do the engine to be reliable.

There was some talk of 10 bolts a bit up. Its all on the same page for me since its 40 posts per page much easier to read IMO.

If you know how to use a 10 bolt it will last in mild apps, but just like anything else it has its limits. I dont think there is aneed to upgrade to a 14 bolt in a 4wd unless you are pushing a major amount of hp or plan on offorading alot. I plan to do both later on so Im upgrading.

I got it out the door for $1605. The salvage yards can pretty much charge what they want for these rears because there's not many of them around. So I think I got a good deal. It's better than buying the parts straight from GM!

The brake lines bolt right up.
