Default a few drivetrain upgrade questions

I have an 05 Silverado rcsb 2wd that I am hoping will put down 500rwhp this year. I have heard over and over that the stock 4l60e, and rear will not last long. I am more than likely going with a 4l80e swap, and would also like to do something to the rear. What is the weak point in the rear end? Can I get away with just changing gears? Should I change the whole rear end to something different? The truck didn't come from the factory with rear discs, but I would not be opposed to switching over. This is a truck that I will probably be driving 2-3 times a week with a few runs down the track. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Daryl

a locker and gears will be plenty. maby c clips eliminators and stronger axles in the rear and your good. with some good parts the 8.6 will hold up
