External trans cooler cleaning
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has done this and how to go about doin it?
I have a 2000 silvy 1500 2wd that I'm upgrading to the bigger radiator and efans so I figured while I'm at it I would clean the lines and external cooler. Trucks got 165k on it. Any advice? Not looking to back flush it at a shop just something I can do in the drive way seeing as that's where I'll be anyways

I've never flushed my trans... seems like bad mojo,
I just drain it, change the filter, and call it good. As far as cleaning out the lines, there is something they made for that, but I don't remember what it's called. Performabuilt used to send a can out with all of their transmissions before it became illegal for them to ship it due to hazmat ratings. Supposed to be fairly easy to find at a parts store.

I would not flush that type of cooler as it is about impossible to completely clean it. I have the tube and fin type that will completely clean out . It does not cool as efficiently, and if I had to do it over I would have just got the tru cool and change it every time it needed to be cleaned.

Never said anything about flushing the trans. Just wanted to do the cooler. If I can't get it all out its no biggy. If its as bad as I think it is I should clean it as much as I could. What's the stuff called or look like?

A stock replacement cooler is almost $100 so don't waist the money
The stuff is called Kooler Klean its a product from Lube Gaurd. $10-$12 a can.
It is just as important to make sure the out side is clean so the air can pass over the fins. If it's blocked with bugs and road debris it won't cool as efficiently.
