Default drop for ECSB?

Hi there

Back with questions for my 02 silverado ecsb 5.3l auto, since i live in the northern region and the cold temps have already arrived, im waiting for spring to get here so i can do everything possible to my truck. im still paying on it but the good news it will be mine in 8 months. but now i have plans to drop it 2/4 with chrome 20' s SS wheels, i was before i thinking about the 4inch d arched springs from hotckis, but from what everyone i talked too, they said use shackles and hangers so i think i will do that and since the 2/4 drop is mild do i still need to use the carrier bearing relocation kit? And can i still use the sway bar kits from hotckis when i use the shackle and hangers?

thanx

Yes- you can still use the hotchkis kit with your desired setup. If you go with the belltech drop kit and the hotchkis s-bars you will have great handling on 20" wheels, even 18's like the setup I have. Take my word for it though. You WILL want a 4/6 drop after you have driven your 2/4 for a while. I am going to drop mine more for sure soon. I have shackles/hangers and springs in the front.

about the bearing situation...
You wont need to move the carrier bearing any. What I would suggest however (and is much easier) is to use axle shims. They go between the spring pack and the axle plate and turn the axle slightly to correct the increase in driveline angle you produce when you move the axle up into the frame more. If you dont do this, you will most likely have some shake at lower speeds mostly. if all you are looking for is a small drop, and a little better performance through the twistys then a quality 2/4 and some good s-bars will be fine. Hope I helped.

I would say a 2/4 drop is a compromise. Not to low, but still agressive look. I would tell you to think about a 4/6. Driving anywhere becomes a question and driveway become an obstacle course. I have a McGaughy 4/6 and love it. Also I have the 20'' SS rims. Here are some pics.
