Man, what a PITA.

Does ANYONE on here have the same truck that I do? What did you do about shocks?

I cannnot, for the life of me, find shocks for my truck. Its stock height. It has a 2in shakle drop in the rear, which, would not affect what shocks I need.

Ok, its a 2006 Silverado. ECSB. 2wd. WITH torsion bar front end. It came with the factory GM 20in wheels.

It is NOT a:
4wd
Z-71
1500HD (just a rebadged 2500)

Think of the NBS Vmax trucks WITHOUT the 6.0 and the 14bolt rear end, and you have my truck.

Obviously, standard 1500 silverado shocks will NOT work.

I have to run the same design that you would find on a Avalanche, Z-71, or a SS.

"LOL, just get shocks for one of those trucks, you goob"

Here is the problem with that.
I contacted Monroe and Bilstein. All of the shocks for the afore mentioned are valved HEAVIER to support the 4wd parts (front dif, transfer case, ect) Obviously, the 1500HD shocks are for a heavier truck.

And therefore, offer a ROUGHER ride, which is exactly what im trying to get away from. Essentially, id be running shock intended for a 3/4ton if I did this.

So, im stuck with Avalanche or SS shocks, right?

New problem. Lets just, for the sake of arguement, go with a Monroe Reflex shock.

They both call for the same model number in the front, a 911505

However, the rear for the Avalance calls for a 911506, whereas the rear SS shock calls for a 911504

Whats the difference in the rear? Is one longer? Is one setup "heavier"

Someone, please help me.

My truck is not that rare. There are quite a few of them in my area, and were 10 on the lot the day I got mine, that were optioned out the same.

I would guess the SS shock would be shorter because they dont sit up as high as avalanches, but im not 100%

OK, figured this out - B2E option on my truck instead of BV4 (VHO) both have the z60 suspension - identical but for the engine and trans combo. I was unaware of this RPO or what this truck was but should be able to order the exact same shocks from bilstein for the Silverado SS trucks. should apply to both b2e and b4v rigs due to same weight, chassis and springs, etc

Identical to the VHO except it got the standard 1500 engine / trans.

I think im going to order shocks for a 2006 SS, since they were all 2wd that year.

Doesn't the Av have rear coils? That may be the difference... But if I were you I would do as stated and buy a set for the SS.

Avv Z71 has 5 link and RR coils...I wonder if the SS are shorter cause the Avv def sits higher in RR, but that may just be the coils. I am planning to do shocks as well to cut down on the beast wandering all over the highway, but I'll be going stiffer.

Here is where Im at.

I called a local GM dealer, and had him look up shocks by my VIN.
Then, had him check to see if an SS ran the same shocks.

The fronts are the same
The rears are NOT.

SO, I ordered the 6500 HO Bilstiens for the front. These work on All avalanches, SSs. Z-71s. Tahoes, Suburbans, ect.

Im still having trouble with the rears. Im wondering if I could just run the 2903s that ALL 2wd 1/2 ton silverados run.

Im currently working with TODD from Shockwarehouse.com trying to figure out the rears.

Measure your stock rears from eyelet to eyelet while on the ground, and give these measurements to whoever you are talking to. They should be able to pull a shock that fits

Do you have blocks between you axle and rear leaf spring? Most t-bar trucks other than the SS's do. If so, that would explain the different part numbers for the rears.
