I have a question regarding the gear selectors in auto transmissions. How do truck trannys use a stalk on the steering wheels, when an automatic car tranny uses the lever in the center console?
I understand there is no physical linkage like in a manual, but how would I swap an older truck that had a manual trans on the floor to a newer auto?
BTW: This would probably end up being a 4L60E or similar GM trans.

You would either have to install a different steering column that had a column shift or get your self a floor shifter and keep it on the floor. I know that lokar has some floor mounted shifters but I personally have never installed one. I know they can be tricky to get set up but that's what I got for you. Good luck with your project. Vince
