I have the tru-trac and I love it, there is NO noise turning around corners, or I would say it is an open differential until there is some torque applied then it will lock up and wont let go..... I have not heard about any "tru-trac" yet that has gone bad.... I have heard of some detroit lockers but not the detroit tru-trac.???

No clu nking from mine and I bought it used with like 10 miles on it. I have put over 1000k on it.

Came out of hte front of a jeep guy didnt like the locking mechanicism for off-road. I CAN chirp them turning but you have to punch it. just turning it has very nice manners like the G80.

I wouldnt trade my truetrac for any other.

it probably does have a locking differential, gm calls it g80, the only thing about those that they are not very strong after you start modding your truck they tend to break

Neither the Detroit or the Eaton are 'lockers' but are both Posi differentials. If one wheel is off the ground your screwed!
A true locker would be a little awkward on streets but off road is superior for that reason.

Well, the "little red wagon" that Dodge manufactures, it has a locker in it. Wait, it is an electric locker or something like this......it activates from inside the truck. I don't know.....I've seen guys on here say "I ordered my locker". Hell I've posted this also myself. I guess there is some misunderstanding on my part too. I'm stupid!!!

Check out Randy's ring and pinion. There are some great tech articles on that site. With pictures.
