Default custom traction bars

made some custom traction bars, solved the wheel hop problem
great idea if you have access to a welder, only had $40 in some 1/2" rod ends & nuts from jegs will have pics later

Id like to see some pics of that too..I've thought about buildin my own too. i found a site that explains alot of the basics in tractions bars and tells ya how to build them http://www.hotrodsandhemis.com/Traction.html. I was gonna see on how other guys thought on how well these would work in the site i listed?

Good info on the site you linked to. What about the lower bracket that bolts to the axle housing. Ours has lots of curves to it, so that it fits the contour of the axle tube. Pics of the Caltracs show they weld brackets right to the factory style lower bracket. What would be the best way to weld them on, with the factory bracket in place or removed from the axle housing? Any ideas would help.

i was thinking about cutting some brackets and welding them to the factory bracket

Im workin on them right now...just came in too take another look at that link ill try and get some pics either tonight or tomorrow night..so far i just got the front hangers made and to wear they pivot...i gotta bar on the right side seein how low the rear mount is going to be..and then measure and see how long of a tube im gonna use..im goin to use a aluminum threaded tube thats going to take 3/4 left and right handed heim ends..would that aluminum take the pressure??

That is a great write-up, i might have to try that. What effects will it have with a stock motor with a few bolt ons. Is there even enough power to need these bars. I can squeal the tires from a stand still just steping it down, but if i stall it at all it will smokem

dosent look so hard...i just wish someone would throw up the dimensions of the caltrack brackets to take out the guesswork. maybe just lay all 4 onto the scanner and post it up as templates. anyone getting caltracs for a chevy any time soon?
