Default Custom rear end advice

Thinking real strongly about swapping out the 10 bolt for something stronger in my '03. Mulling over a custom 9" or keeping it gm with a 12 bolt. Only way I go with a 12 bolt is if it has flanges and no c clips. Tell me what you think and why.

Also, need some help with the measurements. Not sure where to start. I know Ill be running 15 x 10 wheels with 6" backspacing. And 295/55 tires. I want the tires to at least sit flush with the fenders. Keeping leaf springs. No plans for link suspension.

Not sure how to measure for pinion angle, where to measure from on width, etc. Will have a 4" drop in the rear, 3" front.

Thanks

A lot of work to keep leafs after that, unless you found a direct swap corporate 14 bolt.

Depending on your goals and how much your towing or making a lot of tq, the 10 bolt with a few mods could be stable enough to be reliable.

Why you say that? The guy I bought my rear wheels from ran wider tires than I want on a 10 bolt. I understand there's work involved. Pretty sure this has been done several times before.

This is not a work truck. It made 642 rwhp with the 6.0. Its getting swapped with a 402. I understand a 10 bolt can handle some decent power. I'm looking to remove any weak link I can before all this **** hits the road again.

Just go straight to a 9 inch. Plenty of parts available and easy to set up.
