Default couple questions before I install my lowering kit?

First off this is first time im lowering a truck I usually lift them but im enjoying the better fuel mileage now

I bought 2 & 4 degree shims for rear axle might not use both but incase I do does the pin bolt that holds the leaf pack together need to be longer?

Whats the best way to remove old hangers drill out or cut head off rivet and use a air hammer?

Im going to prolly install this weekend just wanna make sure have all my parts and any tools I might need. Any tips advice always a big help

I ground the head off mine and punched it out.

That a CC or ex-cab? can't tell in the pic... I thought only CCs were riveted, all others bolted.

Mines ext cab there rivets but that seems to be easy part. I know when doing a add a leaf they supply a longer bolt and some of the shim kits I was lookn at cam with longer bolt but I had bought the ones with out the bolt so just wanna make sure that at using both shims 6 degree I wont need longer bolt

i put mine on this past weekend.... i torched the heads of the rivets and bumped them out. Not sure if the pack bolt needs to be longer, but my steel shims were not slotted, so I had to have a new bolt anyway.

I dropped my 99 4 inches in the rear with hangers and shackles. I dont think a 2* shim will be enough for pinion angle. 4* might get you there, but on mine I had to use a 6* shim. I added just a tad bit more angle for performance applications.

Good Luck.
