That's probably about right, maybe a shade high (depending on labor rates in your area). I had a Jeep regeared this summer and was charged $250 per axle but yours doesn't require installing the pinion and setting the pinion depth which is about half of the labor.

The same guy changed gears in my Avalanche a couple of months ago and he charged $250 for the rear and $350 for the IFS front.

Ouch, it's not that high here, more like $35-40 for a small shop and $60-65 for a dealer. I would say it's fair then. I don't think a top notch mechanic could do it in less than 2 hours.

This guy is GREAT. My 4L60 held my 383 camaro without any problems. Top notch trans- $900 R&R and towed my car back to my house so i coudl get to work on the engine.

I went to school, didn't see him for over a year and he recognized me the moment I walked in the door.

When I did my 6.0/4L65E swap- he overlooked the whole truck, did some little things and didn't charge me a dime.

If you are on long island, i highly reccomend pat at Islip transmission.

He has some damn fast (7s) cars too :faint:

For anything other than driveline stuff- woodmax gulf in hicksville.
My mom just drops off her car every 3k miles and signs the bill when its done with ZERO worries that anything she didn't need was added or that she was overcharged. Dad doesn't even review the bill.

Only 2 honest mechanics i've ever met, and i know a LOT.
