Question Converting 4wd tranny to a 2wd

Is it possible to convert a 4wd tranny to a 2wd. I was thinking of just adding the back tail housing to see if it will work. Has anyone tried this? I tried to do a search and could find anything.

That's the only difference as far as transmissions go.

Thanks for the input. I have talked to Andy at FLT, he said I would have to have a new output shaft. I just started thinking about if I could get away with just the tail housing. Maybe giving up alittle of the output shaft in the yoke.

Nope, you have to change the out put shafts and tails housing. The 4x4 is a lot shorter (like 6"). Bad part is you have to pull the pump off the front of the transmission and all the guts out to get to the one snap ring at the back of the tranny that holds the out put shaft in it. It's not to hard once you've done it a couple times, but no cake walk either.
