Default converting from 4wd to 2 wd ??

i am going to convert my 4wd to 2wd.
i know that i have to get a 2wd trans. and drive shaft.
will the trans mount work from the 4wd or will i have to get that also?
will i be able to just pull the front axles out and front houseing?

You need to get the BCM reprogrammed unless you want to see the service 4wd light.

The tranny mount should be the same.

you lose alot of power threw the 4wd, and just more part to replace. the truck has also been dropped with air bags, so i guess it might as well be 2wd.

You can always try pulling out the front CV shafts and driveshaft, and see if you notice a difference in performance.

I have 120K miles on my truck, haven't replaced or serviced a single 4wd part other than fluids. Also, once you get past the point where you can light up the rear tires, 4wd is very handy for launching at the track......

I haven't ever looked at how the hubs and axles are set up on a newer 4wd chevy truck, but most every car with front CV's needs to have the axles in place, even if you are rolling it around or towing it. If the hub nut is loose, it will severely mess up the wheel bearing. Again, I don't know how the chevy 4wd's are set up...maybe someone else can chime in?
