Default Converter Suggestions

I've been lurking the drive train section for a while trying to figure out what to do about a converter, but to no avail. So I'm hoping a specific thread will help. I have a 1999 Chevy Suburban (OBS) with a Vortec 5700 with a Comp 218/224 @112 cam in it. The trans has a Transgo HD-2 and a big cooler, but it needs a stall. I'm currently running the stock stall in it and needless to say it's sluggish. Once the truck gets over 2300 RPM or so in first it pulls very well. So I need a converter suggestion and some advice as well. Is it true that a converter from an LT-1 Camaro would stall higher in my truck due to the weight? What would be a good number to get considering cam specs and weight? Thanks in advance.

Do you ever tow with it? Yank 3000 TT Series would be a nice match with the cam you have. I have the 2600 on a stock cam and it works great. It will drive very close to stock, untill you put your foot down that is.

Nope it's not a workhorse, just a DD that may occasionally see a roadtrip to Galveston or something.

The LT Camaro will be the same stall. You need one from a 4.3 blazer. It will be about a 2200-2400 stall. We can build you one and make it HD. I also noticed you are in JV, we are right around the corner from you.

Yeah I've driven past the shop a lot. Is 2200-2400 going to be enough stall? I was thinking somewhere in high 2000s to low 3000s?

I'm not entirely sure on all of it.

We can definitely go that high, but that is a lot for a 5.7 and a heavy Suburban. I think the high stall 12" will be a good match for you. Maybe you could stop by and we can go over your options.
