Very good point, you must be carefull with a stock trans, of course how long is a stock 4l60e really going to last???? Too much line pressure can hurt trannys. I worked very close with my tranny builder, and a manual gauge when changing my line pressures.

Here's a question you guys may be able to answer, I don't mean to jack the thread....

I installed the HD2 kit with a vette servo a few weeks back. My 1st-2nd shift is still a little too firm because I put a spring in the valve body that was intended for the stock servo, and since I have the vette servo in there, well, it's firm on top of firm. Right now I have no washers in the accumulator and the piston is installed as the HD2 kit said with the springs from the HD2 kit. I have the 1st-2nd hole in the seperator plate drilled to the smallest(.082 I think it is) and the 2nd-3rd hole drilled to .093(I think it is). Now if I toss in a Yank 2600 stall, will that help soften it up?

The shift should still be the same, but you may not feel it as much?? I'm not really sure. You can make the shifts a bit softer in the tune.

I had my tune updated with stock line pressure, and after all the adjustments I did to soften it, it came down to where it wouldn't bark the tires going into second. But now, it seems to have firmed up again, it's barking the tires going into second, how did that happen? lol

EDIT: I plan on having Allen Nelson tune my 6L when I swap it in, so maybe he can play with the tune to get my shifts dialed in. I like the performance of my wait4me tune, but it's not optimized for 93 octane, so it's not "all that it can be".

whats a matter with barking tires? so you want youre trans to slip while shifting? also a larger stall will have effects on how hard the shift is

It can't be good on the drivetrain? It's a little too firm at part throttle as well. I'm not saying I want a soft shift, but the way it is now, it's a little jolting at part throttle.

when a tuner upps shift firmness does that always mean upping line pressure? also, what you guys are saying is if i bought the vette servo and HD2 shift kit, i should get it retuned to lower shift firmness or else it woulds shift way to hard? BTW my tranny is a 4l60 and has 82k on it, about 10k is being driven hard at times with a cam and tune and 4.10's and the rest was driven easy and towed probably for about 5k...how long do you think it'll last? assuming i get the shift kits and a tt3000 stall very shortly?

with a servo and shift kit you should get your tuner to put stock line pressure back... when I built my tranny, I still had the TB stall and it would bark the tires real hard on stock line pressure, then a week later I went with a bigger converter and it soften the shifts quite a bit, so if you go with a bigger converter it should soften the shifts,
