Default Common for verters?

I put a PI Vig 2600 in my truck recently. Right after the install best I could get it to brake stall was around 1800 rpm. Now after about a month in the truck it will brake stall to about 2500 rpm. More in line to what I would expect for a 2600. Question is do they require break in. is this normal?

Its common. They loosen up after you get some miles on them.

I've heard that, and I've heard that they tighten up over time. Go figure.

For example, I've heard the Yanks start off loose and tighten up over time.

It must vary from verter buidler to buidler.

Can be traced to track times also. Right after the install a trip to the track did not result in improved 60' times. 2.0X. Same as the factory verter. About 3 wks ago saw 1.9X 60' at STS in 95+ heat. Probably going to the track this weekend maybe I'll see the 1.8X 60' I was expecting with the verter.

That is exactly what my Yank tt3000 did, when I first had it installed it felt extremely loose and had thought that maybe they had sent me a higher stall than I ordered but it has tightened up now and I barely even notice it is there under normal driving.

Seems my truck and mods don't follow the beat and path. Lets see, the things that come to mind.

Verter clearance to flexplate both stock and aftermarket at about 5/16" when everyone says should be about an 1/8 to 3/16"

Loss of boost after cam install. 2.5 to 3psi. Others lost little to none.

Now my verter seems to go oposite of common break in... or at least a Yank.

I believe they tell you to have a 150 mile break in period before you really get in to it.
