Default circle d 3k getting warm

Summer is here in Texas and so is the heat. My converter definatly does not like the heat or getting hot. While cruising arround with it locked up it seems to do ok, runs around 160-165deg on the highway. But if i unlock it and start beating on it any the heat rises fast and at 180deg trans temps its a real turd.
Ive got the true cool 40k and it did seem to help some. It totally bypasses the radiator too. I do have the thermal bypass that came with the kit installed but im thinking of taking that out. Anyone think I will see a difference there?
Im looking for some more options. I know my weight/tire size/gearing is what is causing this thing to heat up the fluid fast but changing that isnt much of an option.

180* is still acceptable, if it stays below 200* all summer I wouldn't worry about it. What size converter do you have? I have a Circle-D 258mm and my trans temps pretty much stay at 160* in all weather conditions, with my TruCool 40K

Switch to -6 hose from the trans to the cooler and straight back. If that doesn't work you'll need more cooler. The big tru-cool does work for 95% of setups but there are bigger ones out there like the one that's on my truck, beating the **** out of mine has no affect on temp whatsoever.

I thought it was acceptable too but it sure acts like **** when it gets that hot and even worse it just keeps building heat. I have the 278mm 3200. It acts more like a 3400-3500 lol

Hmm, I never thought about the bigger hose idea. I just might give that a shot. Does anyone make anything bigger than a 40k?

Think I may have found the problem lol

Tru-Cool Remote External bypass-

Remote cold weather bypass only. No hose or clamps. External thermal bypass for large coolers used in cold climates (32 degree -). Installs in cooler line. Includes bypass only! Use on 5/16" & 3/8" line sizes ONLY!! Opens fully at approx. 180 +-

I would go through the radiator first. That is where the majority of the heat dissipation takes place.

Mine bypasses the radiator and I've got a 3800 converter in an ECSB. 40k cooler does just fine by itself, and can keep cooler than running through radiator and cooler. My temps stay below 160 99% of the time, even running around in 3rd gear with the converter unlocked for long periods of time.
