Like I said in the other thread, get the Smith bars. If youre looking for an easier install you can't really beat them. With the caltracs, you have to completely remove the leaf spring and press out the stock bushing and install the aluminum Calvert bushing. Total PITA the several sets I've installed.

With the Smiths, drill a hole in the leaf and bolt everything up. Hell, swapping the plate on the spring is easy too, unbolt the stocker, knock it off, slide the Smith plate up and bolt it up. Powdercoating shouldn't be a big deal to get done either.

Either way you look at it they both are nice pieces. I didn't really have a issue beating the bushing out and the new one in to be honest. I didn't have to do any drilling, allowed me to remove my overloads while I was in there. I like the fact the the cal tracs come with at least a half *** finish on them, holds up ok. As for performance diff, I doubt that it is going to even be noticeable.

From the looks it would seem as if the smith bars work more like a ladder bar set up, vs the pulling down on the spring like the CT bars.

The heim joint jam nuts look much easier to get a wrench on with the SR bars. I can't even get a wrench on my Caltrac jam nuts, without jacking the truck up. For this very reason, i wish i had the SR assassin bars...

Good info guys! Aren't the smith bars hard to get a hold of? I thought they only make a certain amount at a time and are always on back order... ?
