I might have missed it, but are you trying to spin the tires during a break stand or from a stand still at a street light. Those avalanche's are heavy but it should be able to at least spin the tires from a stand still. Where are you located in Cali? I have a shop here in the bay area that might be able to help....

Its a TORQUE problem, considering I can get a nice squak EASILY by brake stalling to 1,000 rpm and stabbing the gas. This is in a fullsize conversion van with P295/50/R17s, 3.08 gears, and a true-trac. As it was said earlier, it takes TORQUE to move a land yacht the way you are wanting and the newer engines come up a little shy. With 3.73s and a 2,600 rpm stall or so, it would be much easier for me to light them up.

I'll say it again even, I had NO difficulty getting my 305 to put out enough torque to burn 29" tall 295mm wide tires with alot more weight over them than an Avalanche, with 3.08 gears and a 1,600 rpm converter.Before you start bashing, I know exactly how to make the LSx perform and perform well, so get that out of your mind. I also have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with a SOHC 4.7 and its even worse. The torque curve is all in the mid-upper rpm band on that truck with very little under 2,500 rpm. The 3.7 Jeep Liberty converter thats in it now stalls around 3,200 rpm behind the 4.7.
