I've been doing alot of research on what exactly I want/need for my transmission. My truck just hit 97k on stock motor/transmission. To date I have had no problems with the transmission(knocks wood).
My question is: What should I do?
A.) Should I build up my stock transmission with a big cooler, shiftkit, servo, hardened separator plate, 1-2 shift accumulator piston.
B.) Have someone rebuild my transmission
C.) Try and find a 4l65e transmission
Money is the biggest factor in all this. I would most like to do option A because it would mean the cheapest solution.
I am by no means going for 500/500 hp/tq but I plan on doing a 224/224 camswap.
So if I go with building up my stock transmission, should I be ok for a while? I drive 95% highway so that is another factor to consider. Thanks

yea if thats all you plan on doing, really think about it, then you would probably be alright with a stock 65 and just put a shift kit and servo in it. but dont mess with yours until it goes

shift kit , servo and leave a little torque management in should hold up to mild bolt-ons and cam unless you love wot 1/2 shifts all the time . Then you'll need a fully built 60/65e .
