How much horsepower can a transmission like that handle? At 3500.00 would it be better to go with a 80E instead of a built 65E?

FLT doesn't really rate their transmissions by HP, as there are a lot of other variables, including vehicle weight, driving style, etc. As for "better" to go with an 80E, it all depends on the application. For big, big cubes and power I'd say yes, but for something like a mild or moderate 6.0 or moderately boosted 5.3, I'd like to think that the Level7 will hold up. The 80E is a heavy unit which doesn't have a great first gear ratio IMO, and it does eat some HP. For many applications though, it is the perfect match
