Default Bolt size for the driveshaft?

Anybody know the size of the 4 bolts that hold in the driveshaft?
My buddy snapped one while pulling the driveshaft. I went to a hardware store to match it and found something odd. The bolt head is an 11mm. I assumed the bolt (and threads) were metric. Well, I don't know the pitch so I decided to find a nut that would go over the bolt and work from there. Ended up being a Fine thread 5/16" (yes, standard) nut that fit. I bought the 5/16 bolt just to see if it fits. How can a bolt have a metric head and standard thread?

Anybody know the correct Length/Pitch that I need?

I thought standard and metric used different thread counts?

Standard was Fine or Coarse and Metric was 1.00/1.50/2.00 etc...

You think that bolt will do the trick? They only had stainless grade 5, I wanted grade 8.

It's a SAE bolt . If you go to the parts store, you can buy actual bolts for the u-joints, but will probably come in a kit with all 4 bolts (grade 8) and the two straps. Not much money though.
