Blew up my first G80 ;)

Spent all night grinding on it and cut the carrier in half with a grinder. Had to get a torch and cut out the remaining spider gear and both axle gears, and then finally the pin fell out. looks like the axle shafts are in good shape. bout to pull them and put new axle shaft seals in, and I also bought me a new 8mm bolt from oreillys to hold that new pin in.

He said the axles are good to go. I'll look them over when I get there in a little bit and let you know. Everything else in the rear is in bad shape. The ring and pinion needs to be replaced too but it'll be ok until he decides to re-gear the front and rear both.

Pulled it all apart, blew two cans of brake clean through the pinion gear while my bro spun it and cleaned a LOT of **** out of there. Slag and stuff. When I started cleaning it it wouldn't even spin by hand, but I got to spin freely by flushing it and using a magnet to grab the slag and grime.
The chases off my old g80 that hold the bearings looked real good for the miles, so we put them on Bens old carrier g80, and stuck her in. It all went in real nice, cleaned axle tubes while we were in there, anyways we were real hopeful that it would fix it. Filled her back up, popped driveshaft and breaks and wheels on. Started the truck on jackstands and put it in drive, and let it spin for a lil while. The axle shafts must be good and not ben because the wheels were spinning true.
Got in it, drove it around the block. When you get to about 30 mph and let off the gas, it does the same noise as before when it was a busted to he'll. Like a really bad pinion angle but it's not that. It's def in the gears far as we can tell but have no idea what it could be at this point.
Ben offered to put it on the lift at his shop after work but I just hate to bother him so much on this damn thing. But on a lift we could trace the noise source down real good.

I drove it to walmart and got some more fluid to replace the stuff we just put in cause it was prolly filled up with grit and grime already. When we put the cover back in we put an extra magnet in it. Pulled the cover and they have some small debris on em, most likely from when I had to torch the pin. Anyways, I'm lying under the truck right now typing this, kinda pondering stuff. Brother is cleaning the cover off and I'm about to slap it back in, refill with fluid, also a tube of limited slip additive. Then I'm gonna do some slow figure 8's and get that fluid worked around in there.
I don't want to spend 800 bucks on a trutrac and new pinion and ring gears, and the install kit. Plus when I do go to trutrac, I'd like to go 4.56 gear and I really don't have the money to go 4.56 in front and rear.
Skeet: I might get those axle shafts from you if i have to go back into this thing again just to see....but like I said I don't think mine are the problem.

Ron's Machining Service has trutrac, ring & pinion, and install kit packages for $600. http://www.ronsmachiningservice.net/...RUETRAC/Detail
Just build the rear now and don't use 4wd until you save the money up to do the front.
