Bilsteins don't handle...now what?
#1
My front aftermarket Bilsteins don't even come close to impressing me. In spite of what Bilstein told me before I bought them, they behave just like the stock OEM ones did. Meaning, when I hit a dip at speed, I expect the rebound to be much tighter and shorter in duration than it is. Instead, it is long and loose.
In addition to the possibility of getting them revalved by Bilstein, I have heard that the following are options:
- Doetch Tech (lots of QA issues from what I hear)
- Edelbrock EAS (???)
- Rancho 9000X adjustable
I have a lowered truck and want sports car type handling. Any comments or experience on the above?

Well, I never heard any complaints about the Doestch's. They are highly recommended for the 4/6,3/4,and 5/7 drops. I plan on going with doestch for my 4/6 drop. Hard to belive the Bilsteins ride rough I tought they are suppose to be the best in the market.

The Bilsteins don't ride rough; they actually ride too mushy. I thought they would be stiffer, with quicker dampening and rebounding. But they don't. As far as which ones, I got the only ones available for my Avalanche.....

I had Bilsteins on my '97 that had a Hotchkis 2/4 drop and they were too stiff for me at first. But I either got used to it or they loosened up after a while. I have heard good things about the Rancho 9000's.
