Alright I have a c3 sierra awd lq4. I've got a whipple with a front mount intercooler i'm going to install in the truck and i've got one piece left to buy for this transmission, which also happens to be the first thing installed.

First let me say that i don't plan on making more than 450whp. I have the circle d reworked tb stall and 42lb/hr injectors so that is probably my limit for both of those parts. I have a race car so i dont need my truck to be all that fast. I'm going to limit it at a hp level so that i wont have to replace a bunch of ****(hopefully). I will be happy to be solidly in the 12's.

So mid-high 12's, 5000lb, 450-500whp. Which output shaft? I already know some people are going to say might as well go billet so i know it wont break, but it seems some people are breaking them anyway.

I saw some people say the stock shafts are good to 450whp and that a lot of people are breaking them from having the shifts too hard. So anyone with experience either breaking them or not?

Will the cryo-treated and shot peened shaft do or will I need the billet steel? thanks.

 

Do the billet. These are both factory cryo treated 08 TBSS 4l65e shafts running mid to low 12's and you can see what happened to them,

 

I hear you cant beat the billet in strength, damn near bullet proof!

Whatta bout cryo &/ or shot peen the billet? Or is that just overkill? If it's possible. That's how I roll, do it up overkill & eliminate (or attempt to) futher carnage. I mean cause we are lookin for a put it in & forget it, right?

Anyhow, I think you're overthinking this one Tom. Billet is the ticket. Lots & lots of billet.

 

That's why I'm getting billet shafts. Still, set the beer down & answer. Can both be done?

 

Alright. I set down the beer, typing with both hands now. I have no idea, but my gut says nope. So until somebody smart proves me wrong, it cannot be done. Sounds reasonable, right?
