i have a 04 ext cab step side with rear sway bar and it improved the handling nicely, but on a reg cab stepside if u have a good set of shocks on the rear u almost dont need to even buy a rear sway bar

the sway bar was the best mod I've done...the swaybar will eliminate some of the need for a harder shock.

Can a rear sway bar have an ill effect on the ride quality? That is what I have heard.
Roads in RI can't be worse than MI! I don't think a rear swaybar will have add to a bad ride. I wish I could remember, but I read that reason most have a bad ride is due to either picking the wrong shock or the wrong spring. I think it was in a PHR suspension article. Now if I could just member the issue.

The rear sway will help on cornering to flatten out truck rather than dip to 1 side. But for the drag racing junkie that never corners, they'll say it adds weight. I say very little, & no I didn't weigh mine before installing.

I swapped out my 2 year old Edelbrock IAS with the Belltech Street Performance shocks and love them.
