Default best gears for boost??

hey guys, im in the process off swapping a soon to be boosted lq4 in my 97 ecsb z71. i have a AWD transfer case waiting also.

last year i installed 4.10 gears in my 14 bolt SF, i never got around to replacing the front (3.42) axle. i cant fint ANYONE that sells 4.10 gears for the front IRS, only 4.11. so i have to swap one or both, my question is, with the turbocharged 6.0, should i lift the rear back to 3.42s, or drop the front and rear to 4.11s?

tranny is a built 60e with a YANK SST 4000 stall

Yes. The 3.42 is a good one. But it does depend on your tire size.

Not necessarily a typo, some manufacturers call them 4.10 gears, some call them 4.11 gears. Either way though, your front end wouldn't know the difference either way if they were different.

As for the turbo, I think 3.42 would be the best bet in your case, unless you have large tires.

I agree, 3.42 unless you have large / heavy tires. As for you going 80e later on, a 3.73 would probably be a good choice.

3.42 gears on a 4L60e trans is a very good combo for boost with the longer gears to help it load better.

Those 3.42s will be perfect then!

I have 3.23s, and plan to keep them with my 32" tires once I go boosted.
