So it appears they work off a different principle than caltracs. I snooped around the L forums a bit and got some more info.
Caltracs work by first, preloading the leaf spring and allowing you to move the pinion angle more negative. When tq is applied to the rear end, the link and new found instant center helps lift the rear of the car. This in turn forces the rear tires into the pavement.
The long bars allow you to preload the leaf spring and to dial in pinion angle like a caltrac, but they allow the truck to squat. Looking at pics of L's with these and launching, the truck is squating significantly while pulling the front wheels.
With caltrac cars its still possible to pull the wheels for some weight transfer, but it will never squat. I think the L guys have such good luck with them, because a truck needs maximum weight transfer throughout the 1/4. Caltracs can't really provide that for a truck and that's why some truck guys experience a quick hop at launch with caltracs. I've experienced this some with what limited practice launches I've done.
I want a set.
