Ive had this issue for a few months and ive just ignored it basically, but im really getting tired of it. The driver side axle tube leaks, and ive replaced the seal three times and it doesnt help. It has to be from the axle seal since thats the only thing back there, but I cant figure out whats going on. The axle is a 92 14b 9.5" with eaton lsd and yukon 4.56 gears.

I noticed some polishing on the axle shaft about where the seal is, but is that the cause, and the only possible fix is new shafts? It leaks a few drops a day, but eventually my wheels get disgusting and my brakes get gummed up.







Any suggestions?

yea or could possibly have that one machined and a new seal put on.

Or, you could replace the bearing and seal with a repair-bearing.

Looks like you need an axle. Change the bearing and seal too.

Definetly a new axle is in order, especially since you're on seal number 3...might as well do the bearing while you're at it.


Oh and change your brake pads, once they get oil on them they are toast, even degreasing or burning them off doesn't work...don't ask how I know.

dont seat the seal so far into the tube, leave it maybe 1/8 out from being all the way flush with the end of the tube. it'll ride on a different place on the axle itself and not the groove you have going on there. problem solved, and no new axle.

but if youre going to get new ones, get Yukon Axles, inexpensive replacements and much better than stock IMO.
