I've got a 73 C10 and want to convert it to AWD. What do I need to do?

I was told to get a salvaged truck with AWD or 4WD and the front 1/3 of the frame could be cut and welded to the front part of mine.

Why do you want to convert your 2wd to an Awd? If you got a tire spinning problem there are several ways to go about it. You can do a 4-link or ladder bars, you have enough room to install either one.

My two cents on chopping and welding a frame is. Don't do it unless you know what you are doing, anytime when cutting or welding on the frame you weaken the frame, unless you plan on reenforcing it. An 1/8" out of square will cause your truck to run down the road sideways, not too mention all the brackets needing to be fabricated up for installing the front clip.

What's the difference between 2WD and 4WD?
