98 and older with an 80e had a cast iron adapter, that is what mine is also. It is all I could find at the last minute, but it sure looked alot stronger than the one on my 60e.

mine broke going down the highway, vehicle started shaking real bad and i pulled over to check the linkage, which i had been working on, didnt see anything obvious so i went 90 the rest the way to town. so about 40 miles later i stop at a traffic light but when it turned green i wouldnt move... engine ran, it was in drive, wth? fso i turned my hazards on and looked underneath to find my transfer case wedged against the driver side frame and no sign of the front drive shaft at all! i didnt hear a thing lol good thing it was about 2 am cause i just reclined and grabbed a pillow, took a nap on the inner of a four lane road.... anyways, the t case adapter housiing seperated on me, it was a equal one though they esch got half lol i ended up buying 2 of the cast iron adapters on accident

I see a old thread.
but the ones I've seen break also had bad motor mounts. Replacing both motor mounts and adapter, never had a issue after that.
