just weld a small handle on it or use a reverse drill bit
craftsman has a set of easy offs that fit over the head and work like a champ they are worth thier weight in gold I would try them first
Id only go at it with a hammer as a last resort thats how **** gets fucked up even worse.

Does anybody have a link to the write-up? I looked and can't find it.
I got my grinder and ground it down the best I could. Couldn't grind it down too much because of the flywheel. I actually had to grind down a little bit of the block that was sticking out just to reach it. I got pretty close, but it was getting dark and called it a night. I take some pictures of it in the morning.

I have a 2000 2WD and I pulled the motor and tranny at the same time! Just did it like 2 months ago. And ironically enough I pulled it that way just because those damn TC bolts stripped on mine too! I just took the hood off, and eased the radiator support forward! It came right out, well with a little time and patience it did. But it's definately dooable.

I finally got the damn converter bolt off, after 2 1/2 days of trying everything imaginable. I ground off a piece of the block that was blocking my grinder from getting up in there about 30min. later, the base of the head lifted up just enough to get a flathead screwdriver under it and hammered the rest off. I barely nicked my flywheel, but I think it'll be okay. What do ya'll think?
